Leakage at Concord Sewage Treatment Plant: Watch

Concord, New Hampshire-On Thursday, the Concord fire and rescue team was dispatched to the wastewater treatment plant in Concord to report the spill and an employee was splashed during the spill.
After 9 o’clock in the morning, the fire dispatcher received a report of some kind of incident, and the firefighters and EMT rushed to the factory. On the way, firefighters learned that 4000 gallons of a mixture of 85% water and 15% sodium hypochlorite had overflowed. The dispatcher said that the employee was not injured but was spilled in the oil spill.
The firefighters set the order when they arrived, and found from the staff of the treatment plant that the spilled employees had left the plant for evaluation.
There, an ambulance was called to report a drug overdose in an apartment building near Black Street near Green Street.
The battalion commander said that the spill had been contained, but it began to seep into the entire containment. It can be seen that people are dealing with the area outside the building on the southeast side of the factory. According to the dispatch, the commander requested to contact the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.
Sodium hypochlorite is mixed with chlorine and sodium hydroxide and added to the treated wastewater according to the Concord website. Officials said on the Internet that two tanks then had time for treatment to kill bacteria.
According to Stefanie Breton, a Concord press officer, the mixture was released after the valve failed. She said that a typical laundry bleach is about 5.25% sodium hypochlorite. Breton said that about 150 gallons of water are used to disinfect factory wastewater every day.
Chip Chesley, director of Concord’s integrated services department, said: “This is an unfortunate isolated incident that has been contained.” “The city is working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible.”
